Ms Trudy Hills of Wynyard pleaded guilty to a section 8 charge of abandoning two cats without ensuring a person has or would take care and charge of them at the Burnie Magistrates Court on 11 September 2023. Ms Hills left the cats without a carer for at least 3 weeks.
The cats were taken by the RSPCA into care on 23.12.2022 and looked after at the RSPCA Animal Care Centre. The Magistrate issued an order that the two cats Mia and Smokey not be returned to Ms Hills, issued a $500 fine and issued a prohibition order on Ms Hills having care and charge of any animal for a 10 year period.
The two cats Smokey and Mia can now be rehomed and await a second chance at the Animal Care Centre.
