Report Animal Cruelty

Call 1300 139 947

Our RSPCA Inspectors investigate complaints that involve companion animals or pets, as well as small agricultural holdings or ‘hobby farm’ livestock.  Commercial livestock complaints will be passed onto the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, water and the environment.

The most common complaints our Inspectors tackle are the failure to provide animals with appropriate food, water, shelter or veterinary treatment, or concerns about their living conditions.

But we still see a few cases of outright animal abuse or cruelty each year. These shock everyone involved with the case. In order for our inspectors to investigate a complaint within Tasmania and enter property they require reasonable belief to suspect that an animal cruelty offence has been committed.

So it is essential – if you call the animal cruelty helpline on 1300 139 947 or use the online form – to provide as much information as you can.

Always include  your contact details so our inspectors can confirm the facts and gather more information. If you report animal cruelty, your contact details will remain strictly confidential, and are protected in accordance with Tasmanian privacy legislation.
