A woman was convicted of 2 animal cruelty charges in February 2020 in a Launceston Magistrates court.

The matter related to her failure to provide adequate food to 2 dogs in November 2016.

The woman failed to appear in court and the matter was heard in her absence. She was found guilty of one count in relation to Management of Animals and one count of Cruelty to Animals.

She was fined $1500 and ordered to pay the RSPCA $1867.06 in costs. Also prohibited from keeping dogs (other than one named) for a period of seven years.
