On 23 October 2019 a gentleman from George Town was convicted of one count of animal cruelty.  The matter related to animal cruelty to a female, Staffordshire Bull Terrier in April 2019.

The vet report explained how the failure to treat the dog had resulted in stress, suffering and chronic pain for the dog.  The dog was humanely euthanised to end its suffering.

An Animal Cruelty conviction was recorded and the man was banned from owning any animal for a period of two years, except for one cat currently in his care.
