Over one and a half years after animal cruelty charges were filed, on 28 April 2022 former greyhound trainer Dean Barwick has pleaded guilty to the charges in Launceston Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Sharon Cure recorded a conviction against Mr Barwick, and imposed a fine of $800. Magistrate Cure also disqualified Mr Barwick from having any animals for a period of two years.

The charges related to Mr Barwick’s failure to properly feed two greyhounds, Molly and Swaggy, which were ultimately surrendered to Brightside Farm Sanctuary.
