On 28 January 2020 a Latrobe man pleaded guilty to an aggravated cruelty charge in Devonport Magistrates Court. The charge related to a hound dog which had a number of untreated issues.

The dog was suffering as a result of a lack of vet treatment. The vet in her report stated that, ‘the owner was neglectful and unnecessarily inflicted significant stress, suffering and pain as a result of not seeking veterinary attention’.

The dog named ‘Jackson’ was so badly affected that it sadly had to be euthanised on welfare grounds in order to end his suffering.

The Latrobe man has an animal welfare conviction, was fined $1000 and is banned from owning any animals for a period of 10 years.
