At its meeting on 24 May 2022 and again on 9 August 2023, the Board of RSPCA Tasmania resolved to replace the company’s external auditors.

This decision was driven by two key factors:

Ruddicks Chartered Accountants has been the company’s auditor for more than 15 years. Whilst the lead audit partner has changed over that period, contemporary practice would suggest that refreshing this relationship periodically is good governance.
The RSPCA Federation has agreed to move to a nationally consistent approach to external audit practices and has agreed to appoint one firm to service the Federation’s national audit requirements. Our audit will in future be undertaken by BDO Audit (Tas).

There are no disagreements between the Company and the current auditor, and there are no reasons that would give rise to an inability to complete any audit under the Corporations Act 2001 or National Consumer Credit Protection Regulations 2010. Consent for the change has been granted by ASIC and both incoming and outgoing auditors have been working to achieve a seamless transfer of responsibilities.

If you have any questions, you can call Jan Davis, our CEO, on 0409 004 228.

National Board

All new policies require the unanimous vote of the National Board before it is accepted as Policy. Each Member Society Board nominates one of its Directors to also sit on the Board of RSPCA Australia. In addition to these eight nominated Directors, a recruited Chair and up to two recruited Directors are appointed.

The National Board of the RSPCA meets several times a year to formulate national policy and plan the future direction for the RSPCA.
