You Are Our Voice.

Tasmania is at a defining moment for animal welfare.

Please donate today to help greyhounds have a better future.

Legislation currently before the Tasmanian Parliament proposes a phased transition away from commercial greyhound racing by 2029. This Bill offers a clear, responsible pathway to end an industry that causes predictable harm — but it will only succeed with strong public support and advocacy. We are calling on Members of the Legislative Council to support this legislation and put animal welfare first.

Greyhounds are no different from any other dog. They feel pain, fear, and distress. Whether through racing or breeding, the industry exposes them to both immediate injury and long-term physical and psychological suffering that would be unacceptable for dogs in any other setting. Dogs bred and raced for gambling do not live the lives they should — lives spent in loving homes, part of a family, safe, cared for and free from harm.

When greyhounds leave the industry, we see what they were always meant to be: gentle, affectionate companions who thrive in homes, sleep on couches, learn to trust, and form deep bonds with people. No dog should be denied that life.

To transition safely and humanely, a planned exit from greyhound racing must be agreed upon by the Tasmanian Government. This Bill provides the framework to do that well — protecting dogs, supporting people, and allowing Tasmania to lead with compassion.

Your support helps fund the public advocacy needed to ensure Members of the Legislative Council hear the voices of the community — and the dogs who cannot speak for themselves.

Your donation helps make that happen.

This appeal will fund vital public advocacy and lobbying efforts to ensure decision-makers hear the voices of the community — and the dogs who cannot speak for themselves. By donating today, you are helping to:

  • Advocate directly to Members of the Legislative Council
  • Amplify public support for the phase-out legislation
  • Protect greyhounds from ongoing, foreseeable harm
  • Create a safer, more compassionate future for dogs in Tasmania

Dear Friends,

At RSPCA Tasmania, we understand how uncertain the future can be for many of Tasmania’s animals. Every day, we work tirelessly to rescue, protect, and care for those in need, providing essential medical attention, shelter, and the hope of a new, safe, loving forever home.

We are equally committed to supporting vulnerable members of our society through outreach services, while inspiring and educating the next generation to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.

Our ultimate goal is that no animal is left behind in any situation that compromises their health and wellbeing.

Legacy giving plays a crucial role in making this vision a reality, funding a third of our programs and enabling us to plan for the future with confidence.

By including RSPCA Tasmania in your will, you are doing more than just making a financial contribution—you are leaving a lasting legacy that reflects your values and your deep love for animals.

We are deeply honoured each time someone decides to make this special gift, and we are grateful for the trust and support placed in us.

We understand that family and friends come first, and we appreciate every individual who feels able to extend their generosity to help us protect Tasmania’s animals.

Thank you for considering this meaningful way to make a difference, we encourage you to download our brochure or reach out to us directly.

Together, we can ensure that no animal is left behind, creating a brighter future for all.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Andrea Dawkins
