RSPCA Tasmania's Animal Bequest Program is a program designed to provide continued love and care for your pet when you are no longer able to do so personally.

And it´s very simple. By making a specific bequest, meaning a gift left in the form of a sum of money in your Will, the RSPCA will accept full responsibility for your pet and place it in an appropriate "Foster Home". As the new official owner of the pet, the RSPCA is responsible for providing ongoing care.

To register with the program, you will need to provide us with details of:

  • what type of lifestyle your pet is used to
  • what it eats
  • where it likes to sleep
  • if it is used to a large family or single person
  • if it is a dog, how much daily exercise it requires
  • any medical condition we should be aware of and
  • any other considerations

The RSPCA takes great care in selecting the best Foster Home for your beloved companion whether it´s a cat, dog, horse or another animal, basing the selection on the information you have given us on the registration form. We screen and inspect the Foster Home regularly to ensure the previous levels of care and attention are maintained. Your much-loved pet always remains the responsibility of the RSPCA.

There is only a minimum fee to register with the program as your Bequest will cover all future veterinary fees for your pet. The foster carer will be responsible for:

  • providing food
  • lots of love and care
  • plenty of exercise, and
  • a warm, loving home

Not all branches are currently able to provide this service, please contact head office to discuss your needs.
