Encourage your customers to bring their photos in before the day and display them for a donation. Identify yourself as a truly pet- and RSPCA-friendly place of work.
Buy a box of brilliant Happy Tails Day merchandise and use it as prizes for all those pet-lovin´ employees and clients. You can even pop a box on the counter and sell the special Happy Tails souvenirs in the lead up to the big day.
To organise your unique happy Tails display contact Kalie on 6332 8200 or events@rspcatas.org.au
3. Host a Happy Tails Day Event
You can make Happy Tails Day a special event by hosting your very own Happy Tails party. Raise money by either asking for donations or selling merhandise on the day.
And the only limit is your imagination ... get a group of dog lovers together for a collective walk/run/play/romp in the local park ... host a special lunch where pets and people are catered for ... hold a picnic or barbecue and go green with tasty treats like apple, avacado, pear, celery and more ... have a Happy Tails Garage Sale ... kids, you could have a Tail-a-thon where your entire class dresses up like their favurite animal for a gold coin donation, hold a casual clothes day at your school or organise a pet day. You might like to bring a pet to school, write stories about your pet or draw a picture of your favourite pet.
If you´re already way ahead and have planned a special event, make it a Happy Tails Day event. It could be anything from a training course or meeting to a lunch for friends. Put it all together with a Supporter´s Kit which you can get by calling Kalie on 6332 8200.
4. Tell us your happy tails
The RSPCA wants to hear the stories of real Australians whose lives have been influenced by animals to help celebrate this year´s Happy Tails Day on Friday 10 October.
If your life has been influenced by animals in some way we want to hear from you! Have you adopted a pet from the RSPCA? Has the RSPCA helped you in some way? Do you know someone who has a new lease on life after bringing a pet into their home? Maybe your love of animals has inspired a career change or helped you find the love of your life!
Perhaps your beloved pet has seen you through some difficult times or even showed great bravery or intelligence to save your life.
Does your pet help you to do things you might otherwise struggle with? Many animals help to make our lives easier, from guide dogs and assistance or alert dogs, to therapy pets visiting the elderly, infirm and those in prisons.
And if you´ve lost a pet, how did you and your family cope with the grief?
If you have a story to tell we´d love to hear it. You don´t need to be a writer or author - we just want to hear about your experiences in your own words. And we would love to see your photographs! For more information or to tell us your story, e-mail happytailsday@rspca.org.au .
