RSPCA Celebrates Vounteer Contributions

Released on Monday 11, May 2009

RSPCA Tasmania believes that National Volunteers' Week works all year round for the society's wonderful volunteers across the state.

The Society said the RSPCA was very proud to have the support of dedicated volunteers committed to helping the organisation care for the thousands of animals that come into the shelters every year.

“Volunteers are a crucial part of the successful day-to-day running of the RSPCA – they are instrumental in every aspect of the organisation from caring for the animals in our shelters to ensuring big events like the upcoming Million Paws Walk run smoothly,” the Society said.

“Our volunteers make an immeasurable donation to the RSPCA every year, giving many, many hours of their own time to help the RSPCA achieve its mission of preventing cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection.

“Such commitment reflects community concern for animal welfare, and ensures a strong culture of empathy and concern is maintained,” the Society said.

As a non-profit organisation and charity that receives little government funding, the RSPCA’s limited number of paid staff would struggle to carry out many of the important duties and functions of the RSPCA that are currently managed by the volunteer workforce.

“However, there are always so many animals and so much work to do, that we are constantly in need of volunteers to lend a hand.”

The Society is always looking for more volunteers, so if you would like to become an RSPCA volunteer please contact , please contact your local shelter.
