How You Can Help
The RSPCA relies on the generous support of individuals and organisations to carry out its vital work in the community. There are lots of ways you can help the RSPCA to help animals in need.
Donate to RSPCA Tasmania
The RSPCA is a non-government, community based charity that depends heavily on donations and support from the public.
Donations made to RSPCA Tasmania will assist the operation of animal shelters, support the work of the Inspectorate, provide community and legal education on animal welfare issues and help the RSPCA to bring about improvements in animal welfare legislation, standards, and the way all animals are kept, including "farm" animals..
Membership
By becoming a member of the RSPCA you will contribute to funding its valuable work. A 10% discount applies to purchases from RSPCA shops in Launceston and Hobart.
Bequests
To retain its independence and to enable advocacy on animal welfare issues, RSPCA Tasmania has always been a non-government organisation, run by its members and supported by donations from the community. All services provided by RSPCA Tasmania are funded by donations, bequests and fund-raising. By leaving a gift to RSPCA Tasmania your estate can directly help animals in many ways. If you have a preference for how you want your gift to be spent, please ensure that you express that preference.
Adoptions
Every year, thousands of animals come into the care of RSPCA, from cats and dogs through to farm animals, horses, birds and wildlife. Whether neglected, abused or abandoned, all these beautiful and unique animals should have homes, love and care.
All RSPCA companion animals are desexed, vaccinated and wormed before they are adopted. In some cases a provision is made for desexing after adoption with an RSPCA-approved veterinarian
Volunteers
RSPCA Volunteers are absolutely essential in helping us carry out the vital work we do in caring for abused, neglected and unwanted animals, and we as an organisation rely very much on the kindness and commitment of our volunteers. If you can help out at your local shelter, even a few hours a week, please contact us.
Careers
From time to time, paid positions become available within the RSPCA. Check back regularly or watch your local media for advertisements. Alternatively, you may wish to consider volunteering. The RSPCA often receives enquiries from students wanting to know more about careers with animals. Working with animals covers a broad range of fields from animal behaviour studies to pet grooming and zoology.
PenPals
Pen Pals are generous sponsors of our many kennels and pens who help us provide care and shelter for our charges as they pass through our shelters on the way to their new families.
Arriving at an RSPCA animal welfare shelter can be a frightening and anxious moment for any animal. But it also signals the first step on their journey to a loving, permanent home. The Pen Pal Programme provides sponsorship of an actual adoption pen at one of our 4 shelters for an entire year. Every animal that resides in that kennel will benefit personally from your generous support. And the hundreds of visitors to our shelters each year will know and appreciate your caring support of Tasmania´s homeless animals.
Foster Care
Our shelters have been inundated once again this year with surrendered animals, especially kittens. If you can help by fostering animals, please contact your nearest shelter.
