What do I do if I find a chick that appears to have fallen out of its nest?

Chicks are identified by their fluffy feathers.
Pick up the chick with a towel, place in a small box (eg shoe box, without lid) with leaf litter and place the box safely and securely in the nearest tree. If the weather is windy, try to secure the box to the tree to ensure there is no movement of this temporary nest. The mother should return when there is no disturbance. Keep all domestic pets and children indoors and away from this area.

Visually check from a distance over a period of 12 hours if the mother has returned to feed her chick. If the mother has not returned phone Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary on their 24 hour number 6268 1184 and they will assist in the transport and care of the animal.
