Community Involvement

The RSPCA is a non-government, community-based charity.  Governed by a volunteer Board of Management, we keep our roots firmly within our community. Volunteers are a highly valued and integral part of our operations and roles vary from animal-related positions to administration and marketing.  We are constantly striving to develop new programmes to get the community more involved and have recently devised the Community Ambassador programme.

Community Ambassadors are people who have a passion for animal welfare and the RSPCA. They can be anyone who wants to help, either on a long-term basis or as a once off. Whatever the time or reason for your involvement, we need your support.

The Community Ambassadors programme is divided into two groups; Youth - aged between 10 and 17 and Adult - aged over 18.  Community Ambassadors can assist in

  • Fund-raising
  • Community Event Management (eg. host your own Million Paws Walk, Trivia night, other activity)
  • Raising awareness of animal welfare issues
  • Campaigns
  • Foster care of animals received at our shelters
