The RSPCA Tasmania presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced receptionist to join our team at the Devonport Animal Care Centre. This is an exciting time to join RSPCA Tasmania, as we are entering a phase of renewal and growth during 2015.
About the role:
You will provide vital help to all creatures great and small by managing reception at the Devonport Animal Care Centre.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
Providing outstanding customer service, both face to face, and over the phone
Assisting customers with animal surrenders and adoptions
Undertaking in-house education
Undertaking end of day reconciliation and other financial management tasks
Maintaining computer records to the highest standard
Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of office and shop area
Assist in production of monthly shelter figures for the Centre Manager
Assisting with fundraising events
To be successful in this role, you will have:
outstanding computer and organisatonal skills
excellent inter-personal and customer service skills
a demonstrated ability to empathise with people in difficult situations
a demonstrated ability to cope with pressure and setbacks
some animal handling experience would be highly regarded
a cheerful, mature, compassionate, non-judgemental attitude
This is a permanent part-time, hands-on position based at the Devonport Animal Care Centre. The ordinary working hours for the successful incumbent shall be a minimum of 15 hours per week, which will usually be comprised of 5 x 4-5.5 hour days.

The projects that our corporate volunteers carry out are both vital and varied, with opportunities for volunteers existing in all areas of operation. Our corporate volunteers are placed according to the priority needs of the organisation and the skills and interests of the group we have working with us.
Corporate volunteering days giving back to RSPCA Tasmania
To help us better manage our finite RSPCA resources and keep focused on helping our rescue animals, we ask that our corporate volunteers help cover the cost of their day (unless they are engaged in a special project). For example, some organisations pay $20 per hour for their volunteers to support RSPCA. Others fundraise between $1,500 to $2,500 for a team of ten*.
* If your organisation is a major sponsor of the RSPCA these team sessions are free of charge.

There are times when the RSPCA needs to quickly access hardworking teams to assist us with a range of special projects. Examples include upgrading our garden areas with donated plants and mulch, helping with major events such as Cupcake Day or helping stock a World-for-Pets store. If you have a team of willing volunteers who could be rallied at short notice than please contact us and we will keep you on the corporate volunteer register.
